At the Guindon physio clinic, we have 3 massage therapists offering different styles of massage therapy. One of these styles, practiced by 2 of our therapists, is physiotherapy. Let’s try to understand what the nature of this approach is.<\/p>\n

First of all, what is the difference between massage therapy and physiotherapy? Massage therapy<\/a> is practiced with oil, without clothes. The primary goal of massage therapy is relaxation, promoting better sleep and regaining energy. Also, a massage can be more invigorating such as fasciatherapy, Swedish massage or sports massage which essentially aim to relax muscles, to relieve tension and allow movements to be optimal. These approaches are also offered at the clinic by all our massage therapists.<\/p>\n

Physiotherapy is defined as therapy through massage and movement. Physiotherapy aims to relieve chronic pain, seeking to understand its origin, why and what causes it. Several origins of pain are observed, including that caused by static positions, such as standing too long or sitting for a long time in front of a computer. Also, there is that of repetitive movements that causes overuse and produces an inflammatory state.<\/p>\n

The primary goal of physiotherapy is to stimulate joints, ligaments and muscles because movement is what removes vascular stasis from the body and promotes health. <\/p>\n

This approach is practiced on clothes, the physiotherapist will use muscle relaxation techniques, active and passive stretching and even mobilizations, soft, pleasant and rhythmic.<\/p>\n

The goal of this approach is to relieve tension that restricts joint mobility, relieve symptoms and restore harmonious movement.<\/p>\n

The only contraindication is a feverish or hot inflammatory state.<\/p>\n
