Health Problems : Sinusitis

Sinusitis, also known as a sinus infection or rhinosinusitis, is inflammation of the sinuses resulting in symptoms. Common symptoms include thick nasal mucus, a plugged nose, and pain in the face. Other signs and symptoms may include fever, headaches, poor sense of smell, sore throat, and cough.
  • We’ll have sinusitis when there is an imbalance in the energy of the lung (the nose being the opening to the lung) or an imbalance of the liver’s energy (gallbladder). We all know that our conventional medicine sees sinusitis as an inflammation of the sinuses due to a strong attack of a virus and/or bacteria that managed to outwit our immune system. However acupuncture understands that we need to find the source of the imbalance of the body which allowed the attacker to get in there in the first place.
  • We must therefore tone the low or dispersed energy of the lung, thus calming the vigor of the liver organ (gallbladder) to rebalance the body so that the sinuses can recover.
  • It is to be noted that when there is an acute case or chronic case of sinusitis, the treatments are similar. It’s the number of treatments required in chronic cases that are higher, from one to three additional treatments depending on the severity of the situation.
