What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is an approach aiming at maximizing physical function and motor skills of patients using physical means, such as manual therapy, heat therapy, cryotherapy (cold), electrotherapy (muscle stimulation / sensory ultrasound laser), hydrotherapy (water), exercise, massage, and segment functionality.
The subject of such rehabilitations include neuro-musculoskeletal problems, that is to say, neurological problems, joint, muscle, balance disorders, coordination, sensitivity, strength, endurance, pain and proprioception. The aim of physiotherapy is to bring the patient to an optimal functional level or back on his feet !
In the Province of Quebec, two types of therapists may practice physiotherapy:
- The physiotherapist
- Technician in physical rehabilitation
One cannot be called physiotherapist unless he/she duly registered member of the “L’Ordre de la physiothérapie du Québec”. Only technicians in physical rehabilitation and physiotherapists may practice physiotherapy.
Looking forward to helping you achieve your rehabilitation goals.
