Stephan Guindon
Physiotherapist
Degree in osteopathy
Driven by his desire to understand the human body, Stéphan Guindon enrolled in a physical education program in 1989. During his bachelor’s degree, he assisted the athletic therapist at the McGill University Sports Medicine Clinic.
Motivated by a strong desire to study physiology and anatomy further, he enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy, which he completed in 1994. During his training, he was the coordinator of the sports physiotherapy service at Vanier College. He gained experience as a first aid attendant as he assessed and treated sports injuries under the supervision of a sports physiotherapist for college teams including football and basketball.
During the two years which followed his graduation in physiotherapy, he perfected his knowledge. He has treated and assessed people with back, neck and other joint problems. In addition, he was a physiotherapist for the Canadian Junior Alpine Ski Team.
Wanting to go even further in his learning, he enrolled in the college of osteopathy of Quebec (COQ) in 1996. After six years of in-depth study of assessment and treatment techniques in osteopathy, he successfully graduated, receiving a diploma in osteopathy in 2002. During his training he worked over four years and operated his own physiotherapy and osteopathy clinic in Calgary.
For 25 years, Stéphan Guindon has offered his physiotherapy and osteopathy services at his clinic in Lachine, Dorval and Calgary , while continuing to study various aspects of his profession.

The holistic approach
from the clinic
The majority of people who consult a physiotherapist with an osteopathic approach have pain in the back, neck or in the joints (shoulders, knees, ankles, etc.). These pains can be caused either by an accident, a fall, a surgical scar or repetitive movements. Sometimes they appear for no reason.
Here are conditions that are regularly encountered in the clinic:
- Tendinitis and bursitis
- Numbness
- Headache and migraine
- Osteoarthritis
- Fibromyalgia
- Fatigue and stress
- Sports injuries
- Sinusitis, allergy and asthma
- Digestion problem: constipation, diarrhea, bloating, reflux, etc.
- Menstrual pain
- Symptoms of menopause
- Conditions surrounding pregnancy
- Conditions in babies and children (colic, stiff neck, ear infections, etc.)
The goal is to treat the tissue restrictions that manifest themselves in the spine, pelvis, organs and nervous system. After treatment, well-being will be felt in the painful region but also overall. For example, sleep and energy improve after treatment. In the next article, we will talk about low back pain and sciatica.
