Chinese medicine considers that stomach pain is most often due to obstruction and stagnation of stomach energy. When there is no circulation or movement, pain appears via three symptoms:
Stagnation of energy in the liver invading the stomach
It is caused by emotional disorders (sadness, anxiety, fear, excessive anger etc.) Each of these emotions has an impact on the circulation of the liver energy. Note that anger is the emotion that most disturbs the liver. The stomach is not the direct cause of the pain, but rather the effect of the cause. An example of this energy stagnation is acid reflux.
Emptying the cold from the spleen and stomach
The emptiness is caused by too much work or study which leads to a lack of energy, too much cold or raw food (ice cream, raw vegetables, salad etc.) and even by repeated external aggressions of cold temperatures. According to Chinese medicine, the external cold can invade the interior and cause damage. Symptoms noticed in people are loss of appetite and fatigue.
Stomach heat
Heat is caused by an unbalanced or excessive diet, too much alcohol, too much spicy food, too much fatty or fried food, too much sweet food, the fire of the liver which is transmitted to the stomach and even repeated external assaults of hot weather. External heat can invade the interior of the body and stagnate in the stomach. Increased heat will manifest itself in bad breath and heartburn.
In summary, let’s say that the pathological mechanism is always the aggressor of the stomach, whether by an external or internal pathogenic factor. Of course, treatments are aimed at identifying the cause(s) and notifying the client, as their future actions will have a major impact on the success of their treatment.
