F or people with seasonal allergies :
The main goal of acupuncture is to balance the energy of the body. The energy flows along the meridians which are routes that are drawn on the body, along the surface of the skin.
With the Chinese New Year starting on January 22, 2023, we are in liver/gallbladder season. According to Chinese medicine, during this period, the liver is recharging its inner energy. For people with seasonal allergies, the liver finds itself in a decrease in energy and contributes to signs and symptoms of allergies.
The experienced acupuncturist assesses the person’s symptoms, body type, and medical history to determine if that person is more of the liver, kidney, heart, lung, and stomach type. Next, needles are placed at specific locations along these meridians on the surface of the skin. This treatment is painless and any discomfort should be mentioned to the acupuncturist. Then the person rests for a period of 30 minutes lying on their back or side for the duration of the treatment. Normally, a few acupuncture sessions are needed, ideally the middle of the month of March, to treat allergy symptoms.
For people suffering from general discomfort, such as lack of energy, disturbed sleep, digestive disorders, please be aware that this can be caused by the change of season and generally manifests itself between winter and spring, and autumn and winter. Just like people with seasonal allergies, the energy of certain meridians needs to be normalized with the help of a few acupuncture sessions.
Do not hesitate to make an appointment with our acupuncturist, Sylvain Trudel, who has 35 years of experience and knowledge in acupuncture and Chinese medicine to treat allergies and disorders associated with the change of seasons.
